We’ve all heard it before, “she has a high metabolism’ and thought “ugh, how do I get one of those?” Well, this post is going to give you five hacks to boost your metabolism! Having a high metabolism means that your body burns energy from food at a faster rate than most and is a positive sign that your digestive system is on track, winning!

Snacks: You might have thought that going to bed starving was a good idea but it actually puts your body into starvation mode and slows everything down. A light 100 to 200 calorie pre bedtime snack can actually help to keep your metabolism going enabling you to burn more calories while you sleep.
Breakfast: Whenever I hear someone say that they just don’t need breakfast a little alarm always goes off in my head. You’re effectively fasting when you sleep and so your body needs fuel to wake up it’s metabolism. Skipping your morning bowl of yummiest can actually slow your bodies ability to burn fat, as it tries to keep all the energy it has to keep you going through the day! Instead of heading straight out the door opt for a high protein breakfast such as eggs on toast, overnight protein oats or a jam packed protein smoothie.
Strength: The more muscle you have on your gorgeous body the better, as muscle is your number one, fat burning, best friend. De-Stress: We’ve all been there and felt that overwhelming surge of stress after a crazy week at work or a to-do list as long as your legs. Unfortunately, the stress hormone Cortisol is one giant pain in the butt and can actually slow down your digestion which in turn will ruin your hopes of a efficient metabolism. So on days when you feel overwhelmed and over worked opt for a walk in the park, mediation, yoga or a swim to help regulate your body and reduce the cortisol levels.
Coffee: I actually hate coffee, unless it’s in an espresso martini or chocolate smoothie, however Coffee contains a number of stimulants, most importantly caffeine. Not only does caffeine increase your metabolic rate, it also makes you more alert and studies have shown that caffeine can increase RMR (resting metabolic rate) by 3–11%, with larger doses having a greater effect. I love to pop a shot of coffee into my morning smoothie for an extra kick on days when i’m feeling sluggish.
