4 WAYS TO BE HAPPIER

Feel like you’ve lost your ‘happy’ of late? Happiness has huge impacts on your mental health (insert “obviously”, comment here) and mental health has an even bigger impact on your day to day life. So if you feel like your happiness has taken a nose dive then this post is for you. Grab your notebook, let’s get you happy!

Ok just fake it with me for a couple of seconds. Whenever I feel anxious or down in the dumps I force my lips to smile, it might feel false at first but this simple smile sends signals to your brain that you’re happy, it creates those feel-good endorphins and can actually trick yourself into feeling happier.

Unhappiness can come from a feeling that you’re not doing enough, that you don’t have all that you need or a fear of missing out. Scrap it, it’s time to get grateful! Assessing where you are right now and taking time to be grateful for all that you have will give you a feeling of content, which will, in turn, make you feel proud of yourself.. happy, voila!

Get loud. Happiness is heavily linked to your inner child, now I’m not saying you have to release your inner three year old but I totally recommend letting your hair down a little. Scream a song out loud, the kind of loud usually saved for the shower or from within the safety of your own car. Scream loud, let it out and feel that warmth of happiness travel through your body.

If you have an animal pop a lead on it and get your butt outside. If you don’t have an animal grab a friend, borrow a dog or simply take your headphones. Some outdoor time away from the news, shops or social media will do wonders. Pop your phone on do not disturb and find your smile.
