World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5th to raise Global awareness, and to encourage us, to make changes to reduce our carbon footprint. With that in mind, I have joined forces with Flora to give you some simple food swaps that will not only benefit your health and bring your closer to your goals but will also have a positive impact on the world we live in.
Butter and spread is not something I have had in my diet for a long time and is also something I advise my clients to try to cut down on where possible. Not only because so many of us have intolerances to dairy but it can also be a sneaky reason as to why you aren’t reaching that weight goal. Luckily for us, Flora has just created Flora Freedom, a plant-based spread. Not only is it dairy-free, but it also contains no ingredients from animal origin which means there is finally a product on the market for those of you who are Vegan or Vegetarian.

Omelette, there’s no need to add lots of hidden ingredients, I simply pop two eggs into a container and whisk with a little salt and pepper, no milk, no butter, just eggs, trust me, it tastes the same and leaves you with some extra calories for dessert.
Porridge, how about swapping to Almond, Oat, Soy or Coconut milk, all have fewer calories, last longer in your fridge and are the perfect dairy-free alternative.
Tea, instead of adding milk to your tea, try making your own peppermint cup, three fresh mint leaves, 1tsp apple cider vinegar, hot water and voila, a drink that will wake you up and de-bloat you at the same time.
Next time you’re having avocado on toast, either mash your avocado and let that be your butter or swap to Flora Freedom for a little plant-based pleasure. It feels good to switch up your routine and I promise not only will your body love you a little more, but the world will thank you.
